Teaching conversational English to 1,400 grade 2 students in China. Negotiations of language and cross-cultural exchanges occur daily. Helping students work through the complexities of spoken English. Living in a culturally immersive environment and learning about life for average Chinese.

• Etta Projects, Intern, Tacoma, WA, Fall 2012
Conducted grant and project research for a local charity specializing in sanitation, youth health and nutrition, and sustainable aid in Bolivia. Translated and summarized the Bolivian news for the director and the board of directors.

• Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice Studies, Intern, San Diego, CA, Summer 2012
Assisted the Women PeaceMakers program with visa requirements for the applicants. Translated the Colombian and Guatemalan news for the program director. Participated in writing the weekly Peace & Justice Update, which reported human rights-related news in our program areas. Presented a report attempting to explain the longevity of the FARC in Colombia.

• International Community Foundation, Intern, National City, CA, Summer 2011
Took initiative to organize a major donation of medical equipment to Mexico. Inventoried, catalogued, and organized the donation in accordance with highly complex export regulations. Attended cross-border meetings with Mexican partners and helped to create the annual report.

• Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Intern, San Diego, CA, Summer 2010
Facilitated communications with constituents through phone conversations and letters. Researched legislations and current events for the Senator’s daily updates in an election year.
